About Alloy Pipes/Tubes
Tesco Steel & Engineering manufactures and supplies Copper Nickel pipes and tubes for marine, offshore and process industries. We produce and test each pipe against ASTM B466 and ASTM B467, the specifications covering seamless and welded Copper-Nickel pipe and tube. Our fabrication team checks chemical composition, wall thickness and surface finish at every production stage. Buyers place bulk orders and receive matching dimensional accuracy across the full batch, order after order. Shipyards, desalination contractors and power plant EPCs specify our Copper Nickel pipe for seawater lines, in which a broken weld or an out-of-tolerance wall thickness means a shutdown.
With 10% or 30% nickel content, plus small additions of iron and manganese, Copper Nickel Pipe resists seawater corrosion better than plain copper or carbon steel pipe. The two standard grades, 90/10 (UNS C70600) and 70/30 (UNS C71500), differ mainly in nickel content: 70/30 can handle higher flow velocities, while 90/10 is easier to fabricate and costs less. These alloys weld smoothly using gas-shielded arc methods and easily withstand pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress cracking in high-chloride waters outlasting standard stainless steel grades by several years. Minimum tensile strength reaches 275 MPa in the annealed condition, rising further in cold-worked tempers and covers structural piping and tubing duty. Copper ions released at the pipe surface also slow the attachment of marine organisms, so fouling builds up more slowly than on steel or aluminium pipe. These properties make Copper-Nickel tube a standard choice for seawater cooling systems, shipboard piping, and offshore process lines.
